2014 Beginnings

I find it hard to believe that it's already the 12th of January.  I feel like time goes by much to quickly these days.

As I start my new year, I'm looking for ways that I can make a difference and I realize that my efforts can be small and still have an effect.

I just watched an interview with Mark Nepo that was very intriguing.  He said that we live in a society where if someone likes to garden, we tell them to become a gardener.  If they like to write, we tell them to be a writer.  We don't let them just enjoy the gardening and writing for what they are,  an expression of the person.  I think that's where I am at in my creative journey...I need to not listen to the voice that says I need to sell my quilts and knitted and crocheted items, but allow them to be a outlet for those creative desires that exist within me.

So, for January, I've set a goal of crocheting 25 dishcloths for the Watertown, WI group that sells them for The Wounded Warrior Project.  I gave four to my friend Lois on Tuesday, and since then, I've completed 12 more.  Nine more to go.

In addition, I used some leftover fleece and made 4 blankets for Project Linus.

I will never know where these little efforts will help, but just knowing someone, somewhere will receive benefit from them is enough.

Now, it's back to chocheting....
